Advent - The New Year!

30/11/2014

Happy New Year and welcome to worship today! This Sunday marks the start of Advent – the start of the Christian year and the Gospel we will primarily read from on Sundays this year, in our three year cycle, is Mark. It is the oldest and shortest Gospel in the Bible and I encourage everyone to go home today and read it in one setting as part of our personal preparation for this year. Thank you to everyone who attended last Sunday’s annual meeting and congratulations to those elected and appointed to positions of leadership in our parish. Please continue to pray for our parish and for our Wardens and Parish Council as we all respond to God’s call and vision for our parish in 2015.

A reminder that our Advent Carol service is tonight at 7pm in the Main church and a special invitation to join with members of the local Catholic and Uniting Churches on Wednesday 3 DECEMBER at 7.30pm for an Advent prayer time. It will be held at St Thomas More Catholic Church, Canadian Bay Road. There is no need to RSVP – just come along. There will be a supper provided after the prayers.
