My thanks to: Mark Sweeney for all his hard work in organising and leading the service. Sam White for her terrific children’s talk. Joan Mitchell for doing a great job as sacristan and to Wendy Leaver and the Choir for leading our singing so well. To Lyn Whelan for the excellent flower arrangements and also to John Welsh, John Paterson and their team of helpers for the superb refreshments that followed the service. Well done!
Bishop Paul White gave us much food for thought about unity and reminded us about the power there is in our visible unity as a church when displayed to the wider community. As we celebrate Pentecost today may we be reminded of our unity in the Spirit.
As the early church was formed in the fire of the Holy Spirit and united by Peter’s first sermon we read at the end of Acts 2, “All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number. those who were being saved.”
Your brother in Christ, Mike Simpson, Locum Vicar
