On Saturday 11 April we are hosting a seminar entitled – “Marking Mortality – Christian preparation for Death” – This half-day seminar will begin at 9.30am in the parish hall and finish by 1pm. It will be an opportunity to explore all the questions concerning death and dying and what happens both on a physical and spiritual level.
On Sunday 19 April we are having the first of our planned ‘Gospel Sundays’- where at all services the ‘Gospel’ message will be clearly preached. It is a wonderful chance to invite friends and neighbours to church.
We find ourselves well into our Lenten season and already planning is underway for Holy Week and Easter services. You will notice some differences this year: We are continuing the program of not duplicating major services so this year the Maundy Thursday service, 2 April will be held at the Chapel of Resurrection Peninsula School at 7.30pm and Good Friday services, 3 April will be held at the main church at 10am (family), 12.00pm-3pm (devotional watch), 3.15pm (Holy Communion) and 7pm (choral presentation.) Continuing our Lenten prayers for reflection – here is one from Saint Ephraim of Syria (4th century):
O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of sloth, despair, lust of power, and idle talk, but grant rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience, and love to Thy servant. Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see my own transgressions and not to judge my brother, for blessed art Thou, unto ages of ages. Amen
