Sometimes we read (or sing) a psalm in worship that makes us feel uncomfortable because of its words of despair or vengeance and other ‘dark emotions’. These psalms remind us that God is present to us in our dark times and moments, we cannot be dishonest before God. In those times we particularly need God to help us work through our difficulties, and thus transform us, bring us to the place of reorientation which may well, or most likely be a new place where we are that bit more wiser and closer to God.
This past week has been somewhat chaotic with moving house as well as getting started in the Church Office. Though not calling this a ‘dark’ time by any means, there is though, this movement from (the old) orientation, into disorientation (as I find my way around a new home and a new church), and I look forward to the reorientation I know will be coming as God reveals his plans for this parish.
With love and peace in the Lord,
