In this man, in Jesus, the curtains of heaven are thrown open by a God determined to have nothing between God and God’s creation. And that the Spirit rushes into Jesus, beginning the renewal movement, reminds us that by dint of our own baptism we are part of God’s renewal of all creation. While we tend to think of baptisms as sweet rituals with a bit of water sprinkled on a baby, they are in fact far more important. We are baptised into the life and death and new life of our Lord and Saviour and what he was called to do – we are called to do as well!
May this coming year be one in which our relationship with Jesus deepens and flourishes.
